H.E The President and Commander-In-Chief of Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) on 22 June 2013 promoted Lt. Gen. Patrick Nyamvumba to full General and appointed him Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). Gen. Patrick Nyamvumba, the former Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), replaces Lt. Gen. Charles Kayonga.
The President also made the following promotions and appointments: Brig. Gen. Jack Nziza, former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, was promoted to the rank of Major General and assumes the new duties of Inspector General of the RDF. Brig Gen Richard Rutatina was promoted to the rank of Major General. Lt Col Joseph Rutabana promoted to Colonel and appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. Colonel Fred Muziraguharara has been posted to the National Intelligence Security Services as Director General responsible for Finance and Administration. Colonel Dan Munyuza was transferred to Rwanda National Police (RNP) as Deputy Inspector General in charge of Operations with the rank of Deputy Commissioner General of Police.
The new appointments take immediate effect.
