RWANDA: CONDEMNING HOUSE DESTRUCTIONS

Press release no.: 022 / 2019-12-18

One of the major obligations of any government is to provide shelter to its citizens, protect them against homelessness, resulting in their happiness, good health and equip them with the capacity of taking care of their daily duties for their own development and that of the country.

Unfortunately, in Rwanda, things are not as such. Citizens from various sectors, especially in the capital city and the surroundings, are troubled in many different ways; they are beaten up, asked to pay bribe and excessive government taxes while government security forces are destroying their houses. These acts of cruelty, planned and executed by Paul Kagame’s led government, have been happening in many corners of the country, especially for the past five years, and have intensified in recent months in areas such as Rwampala, Gatsyata, Nyarutarama, Kiruhura and many more.

The Rwandan Movement for Democratic Change (MRCD-UBUMWE) condemns these criminal acts, as they have been a trading mark of Kagame regime since its inception until today. The MRCD-UBUMWE expresses its sympathy with all the affected people and many others who continue to suffer the tyranny of the regime wherever they are in the world. The MRCD-UBUMWE reiterates that it will not spare any effort in its fight to liberate them from the RPF-Inkotanyi and Kagame in order to end all that suffering.

Together, we shall overcome.
