Rwanda: Sylvain Sibomana, FDU – Inkingi Secretary General and Martin Ntavuka free after a night in police cell.

Kigali, 09 September 2012-Mr. Sylvain Sibomana, FDU – Inkingi Secretary General and Mr. Martin Ntavuka, Kigali-city leader have just been allowed to go back home today at 13:00. An arrest warrant was issued during their detention for subversive rumors undermining power structures.

They were arrested from a public transport vehicle by secret mobile squad because they were discussing about the lack of political space in the country. In custody, they have been interrogated on their illegal political activities. A senior unidentified police authority told them:

“you better be careful, Rwanda is not yet ready for that democratic nonsense. We will not tolerate. Find something else for a peaceful living”.

This morning another opposition figure, Madame Immaculée Uwizeye, Secretary of the Parti Social Imberakuri, was taken to Remera police custody for unknown reasons.

The anti – democratic repression in Rwanda has reached another level. We will not accept to die like animals or ants.
