The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda calls upon the Rwandan Government to do whatever is possible and help bring back the Exiled last Rwandan King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa , who was overthrown in 1961 and currently lives in the United States of America.
The National Executive Committee of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR), during its retreat that took place on 21-22 May 2016, resolved that the Exiled Rwandan King be accorded all privileges provided by law for the former heads of state.
The National Executive Committee, cognizant of the party’s policy on resolving the permanent refugee problem, resolved that in order to completely end the refugee problem, the exiled King must be assisted to return to his country and be allowed to play a role in unity and reconciliation of the Rwandan people.
DGPR believes that the King would also serve as the head of Rwandan Culture in the Republic and be allowed to be a chief advisor of the state.
DGPR believes that it should no longer be a taboo to discuss matters concerning the King and no one should be punished or mistreated for expressing the desire of the return of the exiled Rwandan King, since even in our neighbouring countries like Uganda, they do have a Buganda King (Kabaka), Bunyoro King, Basoga King and many others, who all play a cultural role for their people in the Republic.
The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is ready to provide its expertise and solutions to make sure that the exiled King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa returns back from exile. We believe this will be the exodus of the return of all remaining Rwandan refugees and it will be a pillar for bringing sustainable peace and security to Rwanda and the Great lakes region.
