Vous qui l\u2019avez accompagn\u00e9 dans son dernier voyage, vous serez de retour quand vous lirez le pr\u00e9sent message\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>Avec V\u00e9nuste, j\u2019ai des souvenirs tr\u00e8s attachants. On se connaissait depuis 1975 \u00e0 Nyakibanda o\u00f9 il \u00e9tait le doyen \u00e9lu des Bafaratiri (grands s\u00e9minaristes). Il ma\u00eetrisait la situation, le s\u00e9minaire \u00e9tant implant\u00e9 dans sa r\u00e9gion natale de Gishamvu !<\/p>\n<p>Tr\u00e8s avis\u00e9 et fin diplomate, il s\u2019entendait \u00e0 merveille avec le recteur Mgr Fran\u00e7ois Niyibizi, un excellent directeur, bon Munyenduga (Kabagari), tr\u00e8s appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 par les jeunes ! Ce fut une ann\u00e9e riche d\u2019exp\u00e9riences\u00a0(1975\/76).<\/p>\n<p>Je le retrouve \u00e0 Rome en 1982. Je devais faire la m\u00eame universit\u00e9 que lui et la m\u00eame facult\u00e9 des lettres classiques. Il \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 doctorant et m\u2019a donn\u00e9 de tr\u00e8s bons conseils.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>En plus, comme Thadd\u00e9e, le futur \u00e9v\u00eaque de Kabgayi, venait de terminer sa licence \u00e0 la m\u00eame universit\u00e9 (psychop\u00e9dagogie), V\u00e9nuste lui a demand\u00e9 de me c\u00e9der sa Vespa, mobylette pratique pour les \u00e9tudiants (\u00e7a vous \u00e9vite le tracas des bus). Ainsi, plusieurs fois, on allait ensemble \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9, lui devant et moi dans son sillage, essayant de m\u00e9moriser la route. Le GPS n\u2019existait pas encore. Une heure de chevauch\u00e9e entre les voitures folles et irrespectueuses et 30 km dans les roues, tous les matins, s\u00e9paraient notre coll\u00e8ge de l\u2019universit\u00e9 pontificale sal\u00e9sienne. On traversait la Ville de part en part. Que Rome\u00a0est\u00a0grande\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>Au r\u00e9veillon de Nouvel An (1983), on s\u2019est amus\u00e9 comme de jeunes \u00e9tudiants ! Nous \u00e9tions entre pr\u00eatres originaires du Rwanda, tous r\u00e9unis dans la chambre de V\u00e9nuste. Il m\u2019a servi du Cointreau. Malheur \u00e0 moi\u00a0! J\u2019ai jou\u00e9 au j\u00e9suite qui d\u00e9tourne le regard puis, de feinte modestie, d\u00e9couvre, contrari\u00e9, son verre rempli \u00e0 ras bord ! Mon verre d\u00e9bordait. Il \u00e9tait une heure du matin. Je l\u2019ai vid\u00e9 \u00e0 4 heures et je me suis retir\u00e9. On ne me verra plus que le 3 au soir ! On me croyait parti chez des amis italiens alors que je cuvais mon vin ! Plus jamais je ne boirai du\u00a0Cointreau.<\/p>\n<p>V\u00e9nuste rentre au Rwanda (\u00e9t\u00e9 1983).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Une carri\u00e8re spectaculaire, vicaire g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Butare et j\u2019en passe\u00a0! On se retrouve en 1988 \u00e0 Kabgayi. Il est appel\u00e9 \u00e0 y fonder le Philosophicum.<\/p>\n<p>Un beau matin, 8 heures sonnantes, Mgr Perraudin fait irruption dans Saint-L\u00e9on. Il cherche le recteur Laurent et l\u2019\u00e9conome que je suis. V\u00e9nuste l\u2019accompagne. \u00ab\u00a0Chaussez-vous convenablement, on va dans le bois\u00a0\u00bb, nous dit l\u2019\u00e9v\u00eaque.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Mgr Perraudin, sentant venir la fin de son mandat, voulait partager l\u2019h\u00e9ritage \u00e0 ses enfants : le futur grand s\u00e9minaire, repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par V\u00e9nuste et le s\u00e9minaire St-L\u00e9on, repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par Laurent et votre serviteur. On e\u00fbt dit \u00ab\u00a0Le Laboureur et ses enfants\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons arpent\u00e9 toute la for\u00eat en descendant vers Gahenerezo et autres lieux romantiques, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la vue panoramique de l\u2019igishyanga.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cV\u00e9nuste ira jusqu\u2019\u00e0 tel arbre\u2026\u201d, indiquait l\u2019\u00e9v\u00eaque. Je r\u00e9pliquais, nerveux : \u201cMais, Mgr, vous donnez tout au Philosophicum ? Qu\u2019est-ce qui nous restera comme bois ?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Le vieux avan\u00e7ait, imperturbable, heureux de donner \u00e0 pleines mains ! Sacr\u00e9 Mgr Perraudin ! Et dire qu\u2019il avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 subi une op\u00e9ration du c\u0153ur. Il rajeunissait\u00a0\u00e0\u00a0vue\u00a0d\u2019\u0153il\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>La belle histoire de collaboration entre V\u00e9nuste et Perraudin ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0 !<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nomm\u00e9 doyen de Waterloo, &#8211; le premier doyen africain dans toute l\u2019histoire de la Belgique\u00a0! -, V\u00e9nuste roulait volontiers, et souvent, jusqu\u2019en Valais (Suisse) pour rendre service \u00e0 son ami l\u2019\u00e9v\u00eaque \u00e9m\u00e9rite. Sans la pr\u00e9sence laborieuse de ce docteur en lettres, le livre de Mgr Perraudin n\u2019aurait jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9. Il serait rest\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat de brouillon. Les P\u00e8res blancs craignaient de soutenir l\u2019auteur du Mandement de car\u00eame 1959, une lettre pastorale pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par la presse mainstream comme un appel au g\u00e9nocide. V\u00e9nuste n\u2019a \u00e9cout\u00e9 personne.
