It began when Laura Seay, a political scientist with Colby College, approvingly\u00a0tweeted of the work by Sonia Rolley, a journalist with RFI who has been\u00a0covering the deaths of Rwandan dissidents<\/a>. This tweet, in turn, prompted a response from an account named \u201c@RichardGoldston.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00c7a\u00a0 a commenc\u00e9 lorsque Laura Seay, une politologue de Colby College, a tweet\u00e9 favorablement \u00e0 propos du travail de Sonia Rolley, journaliste \u00e0 RFI qui a\u00a0couvert la mort d\u2019opposants politique rwandais<\/a>. \u201c\u2018Goldston\u2019 was insulting Sonia in a number of ways,\u201d Seay told me in an e-mail, \u201cincluding a really bizarre attempt to embarrass or slut-shame her, implying that she had been dating Patrick Karegeya (the Rwandan dissident who turned up dead in South Africa<\/a>\u00a0on January 1) and that he had sultry details on their interactions.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

At this point Steve Terrill, another journalist who covers Rwanda, stepped in to ask that @RichardGoldston stop the \u201cmisogynistic harassment\u201d of Rolley (you can\u00a0read the tweets here<\/a>, but note that the @RichardGoldston account has been deleted).<\/em><\/p>\n
