Ce sont ces quelques questions qui ont amen\u00e9 Thomas Ilube, entrepreneur britannique et philanthrope n\u00e9 au Nig\u00e9ria, fondateur et PDG de Crossword Cybersecurity, \u00e0 cr\u00e9er l\u2019African Gifted Foundation, une organisation caritative enregistr\u00e9e au Royaume-Uni et sa filiale, Africa Gifted Foundation-Ghana.<\/p>\n

Je compte partager avec vous un article sur Thomas Ilube et son parcours extraordinaire dans les prochaines semaines, mais aujourd\u2019hui, je d\u00e9sire vous dire que je suis inspir\u00e9 par sa fondation et son projet le plus r\u00e9cent, une \u00e9cole sp\u00e9ciale aidant les jeunes \u00e0 avoir de meilleures chances de succ\u00e8s dans la vie.<\/p>\n

Cr\u00e9\u00e9e en 2010, African Gifted Foundation de Thomas Ilube vise \u00e0 offrir des opportunit\u00e9s \u00e9ducatives de grande qualit\u00e9 \u00e0 des centaines de jeunes, en coop\u00e9ration avec des universit\u00e9s africaines de premier plan. Depuis sa cr\u00e9ation, AGF a organis\u00e9 quatre acad\u00e9mies d’\u00e9t\u00e9 auxquelles ont particip\u00e9 plus de 200 \u00e9tudiants africains de 14 \u00e0 18 ans.<\/p>\n

Ayant remarqu\u00e9 le d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibre entre les sexes dans le monde de la technologie et de la science, le philanthrope a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d’aller plus loin en cr\u00e9ant en ao\u00fbt 2016 l’Acad\u00e9mie Africaine des Sciences (African Science Academy) au Ghana, une \u00e9cole r\u00e9serv\u00e9e aux filles.<\/p>\n

\u00abLes filles commencent l’\u00e9cole en aimant les math\u00e9matiques et la physique, mais quand on arrive dans les derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es et qu\u2019il faut passer les examens pr\u00e9paratoires \u00e0 l\u2019entr\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9, il y a 25 gar\u00e7ons contre seulement une ou deux filles. Je voulais donc cr\u00e9er une institution de standard international qui soit vraiment attrayante pour les filles passionn\u00e9es par la science et la technologie. Un espace o\u00f9 elles peuvent parler de ce que signifie \u00eatre une femme scientifique et \u00e9changer sur comment construire leur carri\u00e8re.\u201d<\/p>\n

L’ASA est un internat pour jeunes femmes africaines ayant un potentiel exceptionnel dans les domaines des sciences, de la technologie, de l’ing\u00e9nierie et des math\u00e9matiques (S.T.I.M.). ASA est une voie d’acc\u00e8s aux \u00e9tudes universitaires et aux futures carri\u00e8res en ing\u00e9nierie, sciences, informatique et autres. L’acad\u00e9mie propose un programme d’un an avec un curriculum comprenant trois mati\u00e8res de base qui leur permettront de s’inscrire dans des institutions internationales de renom.<\/p>\n

La vision de l\u2019\u00e9cole est de devenir l\u2019\u00e9cole leader en Afrique pour les jeunes scientifiques dou\u00e9es venant de diff\u00e9rents pays du continent.<\/p>\n

Bien que l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie ait commenc\u00e9 avec moins de 30 \u00e9tudiants par an venant du Ghana, du Nigeria, du Cameroun, d’Ethiopie, d’Ouganda et du Zimbabwe, l’objectif de l’ASA est de cro\u00eetre suffisamment pour accueillir plus de 200 \u00e9tudiants par an de tous les coins du continent.<\/p>\n
