Comme la grande majorit\u00e9 de mes compatriotes congolais, je vouais une haine tenace \u00e0 ce peuple fr\u00e8re, en raison de la guerre que le r\u00e9gime de Paul Kagame avait impos\u00e9e au peuple congolais. Pendant des ann\u00e9es, je me suis pos\u00e9 les m\u00eames questions : Pourquoi ces Rwandais ont-ils envahi notre pays ? Pourquoi tuent-ils gratuitement nos compatriotes ? Qu\u2019avons-nous fait pour m\u00e9riter \u00e7a ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans ma t\u00eate, les choses \u00e9taient tr\u00e8s claires : les Rwandais, surtout les Tutsis, \u00e9taient l\u2019incarnation du mal absolu sur terre. J\u2019\u00e9tais loin de savoir que Kagame et son r\u00e9gime ne repr\u00e9sentaient pas tous les Rwandais, et encore moins tous les Tutsis. J\u2019\u00e9tais loin de savoir que des centaines de milliers, voire des millions de Rwandais (Hutus, Tutsis et Twas) vivaient dans la terreur dans leur propre pays. En fait, j\u2019\u00e9tais juste un pauvre ignorant aveugl\u00e9 par la col\u00e8re, l\u2019esprit pollu\u00e9 par le d\u00e9mon de la haine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En travaillant sur la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs, j\u2019ai vite r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que les choses \u00e9taient beaucoup plus complexes que je le pensais. J\u2019ai surtout compris que les Congolais \u00e9taient dans la m\u00eame gal\u00e8re que leurs fr\u00e8res du Rwanda. \u00c0 la publication de mon premier livre (Le Canada dans les guerres en Afrique centrale : G\u00e9nocide et pillage des richesses du Congo par le Rwanda interpos\u00e9, 2012), je pouvais m\u2019attendre \u00e0 tout, sauf \u00e0 l\u2019accueil chaleureux que ceux-ci ont r\u00e9serv\u00e9 \u00e0 mon travail. Le soutien a \u00e9t\u00e9 massif, et depuis, j\u2019entretiens de tr\u00e8s bonnes relations avec de nombreux Rwandais. Je re\u00e7ois des messages de soutien des Rwandais provenant de partout, y compris de Kigali.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il y a quelques ann\u00e9es, un Rwandais me fit parvenir un message alors qu\u2019il \u00e9tait en prison; son nom : Kizito Mihigo. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, je ne le connaissais pas vraiment, mais son histoire m\u2019avait beaucoup interpell\u00e9. Nous avons gard\u00e9 contact. Sans en dire plus, une chose est certaine : Kizito \u00e9tait un homme d\u2019une grande probit\u00e9 morale et intellectuelle. Ap\u00f4tre de la r\u00e9conciliation entre Rwandais, il avait aussi milit\u00e9 pour la r\u00e9conciliation entre Congolais et Rwandais. Un vrai chantre du Tr\u00e8s Haut. Un Tutsi rescap\u00e9 du g\u00e9nocide qui avait choisi la v\u00e9rit\u00e9, la justice et la paix des c\u0153urs dans son pays et dans la r\u00e9gion en lieu et place du mensonge et de l\u2019arbitraire de Kagame. Kizito avait compris. Voil\u00e0 pourquoi il avait pris fait et cause pour les faibles et les damn\u00e9s du Rwanda que sont les Hutus. Voil\u00e0 pourquoi il \u00e9tait devenu la \u00ab b\u00eate noire \u00bb du r\u00e9gime de Kigali. R\u00e9gime qui n\u2019a pas h\u00e9sit\u00e9 \u00e0 lui \u00f4ter la vie, comme \u00e0 ses habitudes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le Rwanda pleure un fils, et le Congo pleure un fr\u00e8re. \u00ab Merci de penser \u00e0 moi durant ces moments difficiles \u00bb, tel est le message que Kizoto me fit parvenir alors qu\u2019il \u00e9tait en prison en 2016. Adieu fr\u00e8re, kende malamu ndeko. \u00c0 jamais dans nos c\u0153urs. Sache que je remplirai ma part du contrat.
