Kagame’s Kigali Convention Centre Is Dying – Daily Occupancy Of Radisson Hotel As Low As 16 Guests In 292 Room Hotel

By David Himbara

Look at this Kigali Radisson’s own “Forecast Snapshot” based on its bookings from February 19, 2017 to March 1, 2017.

Only 2 days is the hotel booked by over 60%, and only 1 day by over 40%. The 2 days of over 60% occupancy reflect the hosting of Africa Aviation conference with 189 and 193 guests on February 21–22, respectively.

Other days the hotel is expected to be nearly empty with occupancy of 5.52% or 16 guests in a 292 room hotel.

Kagame empty hotel

Kagame built the Radisson Blu Hotel from the US$400 million Eurobond. The hotel features Kigali Convention Centre with room for up to 5,000 delegates. The hotel’s 292 rooms and suites all have private balconies and Free high-speed, wireless Internet. The hotel offers 650 parking bays. Very classy indeed.

Kagame seems to have forgotten one small matter, however – when and how to find guests who can afford the daily room rate of US$248.00. Hardly any Rwandans can afford that.
