The FDLR disclaim any responsibility for the massacre of Congolese civilians

FDLR PRESS RELEASE N° 2016-001

The Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR) deplore and condemn the massacre of Congolese civilians that occurred in Miriki (Lubero, North Kivu, DRC) on the night of 6 to 7 January, 2016.

The FDLR disclaim any responsibility for the massacre unlike the false and ludicrous accusations made by Congolese authorities and the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC), and repeated by national and international press.

These false claims are a headlong rush of the FARDC to cover their failures and the complicity of some of their elements in the massacre.

The FDLR rather request a neutral international investigation to establish responsibilities and bring to book the perpetrators of this massacre.

It should be recalled that the FDLR have always denounced the infiltration of elements of the army of Paul Kagame in DRC whose mission is to kill innocent local population and wreak havoc within the Congolese population and then, with expertly prepared media orchestration, put their heinous crime to the FDLR shoulders.

The FDLR urge the United Nations to conduct without delay an independent international investigation to shed light on these atrocities.
