President Paul Kagame’s Smart Africa has begun a programme aimed at sending Africans across the continent into space. According to Kagame’s team, the first step is ”the training of space engineers across the continent.” The second step will be launching satellites.
Kagame is not the first African president determined to take Africa into space.
Major General Paul Kagame is not the first African ruler determined to take Africa into space
Marshal Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu Wa Za Banga was the first. Watch one of the Congolese rocket launches that sought to take a rat into space.
Evidently, the Congolese space program did not succeed in sending a rat 🐀 to space as planned. God knows if Kagame’s space program will ever take off. Which raises a couple questions. Why are dictators addicted to delusional grandeur? Why doesn’t Kagame build a railway or supply electricity, instead of fantasying about taking Africa into space?
