Many people are inboxing me wishing to express their views on the sentencing of Frank and Tom. An anonymous lady requested that I post her letter to the president of Rwanda on my Facebook page. Here is Ms Anonymous’ letter. (Dr David Himbara)
LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY PAUL KAGAME, THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF RWANDA
Dear Mr. President, greetings from a humble woman compatriot. Your Excellency, I wish to begin this letter by differing with dissidents and critics. Most of them critisize but do not advise you. As a Rwandan, I believe it is not right to just critisize but to advise you. I offer the following:
1. Please kindly take a few minutes, reflect, internalise yourself, and you may find what you need to adjust, or change. All humans go wrong; find out where you went wrong.
2. Take a look at how you teamed up with others during the struggle; remember all those you suffered with you before 1994. Most have fallen by the way side. Is it possible you have a hand in other people’s suffering? Is it possible they are all bad people, and you are right on all occasions since 1990?
3. Does your techinical team advise you professionally or advise you according to your wishes? You need people who tell what you do not necessarily want to hear.
4. How many enemies are you making per day in Rwanda and globally? What does this mean to you and your family? What happened when you are no longer in power, Sir?
5. Remember humans can be very helpful, the people you do not expect can be your saviour in future. So make friends.
6. Do not be shortsighted. Rwanda is already a land locked country and now here it is with enemies from all corners!!
7. In your speech during the burial of your Mom, you said, she taught you to have mercy on those you think wronged you. Are you practising this WILL?
8. There are cries, sorrows and curses out there, do you think God is not there to give rights to those you denied them?
9. Today you are powerful, tomorrow things might be different; it is terrible that you are turning against those you struggled with. I do not think it is the right approach.
This is my humble plea and advice your Excellency. May God bless Rwanda.
