Rwanda: Dr. Joseph Nkusi deported from Norway in 2016, sentenced to 10 years of Prison

Kigali- the High Court sentenced Dr. Joseph Nkusi to 10 years in prison on Thursday, March 29, 2018.

Dr. Joseph Nkusi was accused of: Incitement to civil disobedience, Spread of rumors and Denial of Genocide against Tutsi.

But the Court only held two charges: Incitement to Civil Disobedience, Spread of Rumors and Mr Nkusi was acquitted of the charge of denying the Genocide against Tutsi. The High Court sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

On March 14, 2018 was held behind closed doors the trial of Dr. Joseph Nkusi in the High Court where the public prosecutor had requested the sentence of 15 years in prison. Dr. Joseph Nkusi was assisted by Me Antoinette Mukamuson from the Kigali Bar. According to our sources, Dr. Nkusi intends to appeal the decision of the High Court.

Dr. Joseph Nkusi, a Rwandan blogger sought asylum in Norway, where the immigration authorities rejected his request and deported him to Rwanda, where he was arrested immediately upon his arrival at Kigali airport.
