By Marc Matabaro

On 25 October 2025, the municipality of Anderlecht will host an event titled “Ingabire Day 2025”, organised by the Victoire for Peace Foundation in collaboration with the International Network of Women for Democracy and Peace.

The gathering will take place at 7 Place de la Vaillance, starting at 6:00 pm, and is expected to bring together members of the Rwandan diaspora, human rights activists, and supporters from across Europe and beyond.

Presented as an evening of solidarity and support for political and opinion prisoners in Rwanda, the event will highlight the plight of those detained for their political views, while paying tribute to Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza, a central figure of Rwanda’s democratic opposition.

Participation costs are set at €50 per person or €80 per couple, with reservations required before 10 October 2025.

The initiative is also supported by several partner associations, including JDDH Jambo asbl, Friends of Victoire, the Rwandan Community of Lyon, and Amahoro Iwacu.

Through this event, organisers aim to raise public awareness in Europe about the restrictions on political freedoms in Rwanda, while reaffirming that the defence of human rights remains a pressing and universal cause.
