  1. President Paul Kagame speaking at AIPAC Policy Conference in Washington, D.C has said that the Rwanda and Israel are friends whose survival and bilateral relationships have since the end of the Holocaust and the Tutsi Genocide revived.
    The American Israel Public Affairs Committee attracted almost 18,000 participants including 7,000 for their first time. It is the first time ever, the leader of an African country speaks at the annual conference of AIPAC, the influential pro-Israeli lobby. President Kagame open his address by reminding the audience that : “My message today is simple. Rwanda is, without question, a friend of Israel.” The statement attracted a standing ovation.

    He continues by adding that “Israel has a right to exist and thrive,” hailed the success of the State of Israel after the horrors of the Holocaust and pledged Rwanda’s friendship,He said: “the security of peoples who have once been targeted for extermination can never be exclusively physical. Until all ideologies which justify killing as a patriotic duty are defeated our world is not truly safe. Not for us, not for anyone. Israel has a right to exist and thrive,” President Kagame said, attracting applause from the audience.

    He said that what Israel went through to achieve its current status is similar to what Rwanda is going through.
    Kagame added that: “together with friends like the United States, we must call for renewed global solidarity against the reckless efforts to deny genocide and to trivialize the victims,” he said.

    Kagame’s intervention was well appreciated and in five minutes, it got from the audience several standing ovations.
